How many parking spaces are available for CU Boulder students and faculty? How many for visitors?
I called the Office of Parking and Transportation at 303-492-7384 after checking their website for this information. I spoke with their public relations manager.
There are about 7000 spaces on the main campus for students, faculty, and staff. This year, they issued 4500 student permits and 3000 faculty and staff permits. Meters all over campus are available for visitors (total number was not readily available) and visitor lots have about 500 spaces.
How many students are enrolled in classes around mid-day Monday and Tuesday?
Called the Registrar at 303-492-6970 and left a message.
Called the Office of News Services at 303-492-6431 and left a message.
Phone calls were not returned.
How much does a motorized scooter cost in Boulder? Both high-end and low-end?
If you're looking to transition over to two-wheeled travel, without worrying about biking up The Hill, scooters available for sale in the Boulder area range from, well, $50 to $3800. $3800 will secure you an Aprilia Factory SR-50 2t, advertised on www.sportiquescooters.com as "the number one sport scooter in the world." Vespas on the same site sell for $3600. At the low end of the new scooter price for Sportique is the Kymco Sento 50cc 4t, a "retro scooter" that will run you $2100. The site has a page for used scooters, but no current inventory. You can also hop over to ZooterScooters.com and browse their options, which take a lower price range at $1350 to $1700. Craigslist has used options like a 2004 Aprilia Mojito Custom 50 with 1100 miles for $2195. Or, for the bottom of the barrel, you can pick up a CityBug electric scooter with a dead battery and a missing key for $50. Don't count on making it to class on time on that, though.
How many bikes do you have registered on campus?
I found the phone number for the Bike Registration and Bike Program at the CU Boulder Parking & Transportation Services website, and called them to get an answer to the question of how many bikes are registered on campus. The response was that it's hard to tell because permit stickers don't expire. The office registers about 2,500 a year, but they don't know how many of those are still on campus.
I could infer that the number could be as high as 10,000, if everyone who registered a bike rode that bike for all four years they attended college, and they left campus after four years. It could be higher, however, if people are staying on campus for more than four years, or lower, if people are replacing their bicycles and re-registering a new bike while the old bike hasn't been removed from the system.
How many parking permits were issued this year?
See above. 4500 for students, 3000 for faculty and staff.
